If you are interested in, write about, or are responsible for writing space laws
then I invite you to participate in this site by submitting updates to be posted.

There is still much to be written in the way of space laws. The more important point to note though is that the international / interplanetary regulatory body of space law and space activities and development needs to be independent of nationalistic or business influences to ensure equitable access to space. The U.N. does not have this luxury as long as certain players have veto rights.

I have addressed such issues and many more in my main blog on interplanetary colonialism that includes posts on Science and Concepts on Interplanetary Flight and Colonialism, from Governance and Administration to Security, Finance and Rocket Platforms

During my research into the many topics in that blog I became aware that there does not seem to be a single agency whose responsibility it is to develop or coordinate space law . I came across numerous sites writing about such laws in one form or another and other than the U.N. treaties, there is no consensus or managing body.

The U.N. Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) do not have a direct roll in the development of space laws. Their stated purposes seem to be in the capacity as a muse more than a development body.

It would be advantages if the people looking at writing space law or developing the concepts of space law were all able to coordinate their efforts through a central location or agency. Before that can happen though, there needs to be a consensus on what to include.

With that in mind this site is intended to do just that.

How to Participate

This site has very few pages. Each page has been designed as a list or index of topics, categories or updates which have been submitted by space law lawyers, persons involved in writing space law or general topic specialists. To provide an update simply make a submission using the "submit update" panel on the left. Your submission will be added to the appropriate page in the appropriate location.

There are also 4 other pages where you can provide:

Links   - to your space law site or organization
P&P     - links to your publications and posts.
Law     - The actual Space law document(s)
Video   - Videos discussing space law which you created or were a participant in

These reference links are provided as background materials to help achieve the goal of the creation of a single set of space laws written by and accepted by the global space law participants. Those laws could begin to be written as soon as we have enough legal participants to pen such laws.

I ask that each participant provide an online ID (such as your twitter ID) at the end of your update so you may be contacted by other participants to discuss your thoughts or purpose on a particular submission. (This is not mandatory but there are obvious advantages)

The following format has been adopted to ensure that the index is updated correctly. Make your submissions as follows:

NEW REGION - To request inclusion of a new Region designation

Example:      Region 5 - Transient - @jclulow1
Region # - Region Name - Your ID

CATEGORY - To submit an update to the alphabetic category listing:

Example:     Flight Law - @jclulow1
                    Category - Your ID

Example:     Flight Law - Crew Certification - @jclulow1
Category - Sub Category - Your ID

Example:     3 - Flight Law - pilot certification - @jclulow1
Region # - Category - Sub Category - Your ID
